What is the Long Run for Haiti?

The Long Run for Haiti is a virtual marathon throughout Haiti. Join as a digital runner and as you run through Haiti, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the work J/P HRO is doing and the history and culture of this amazing country.

Is there a registration fee?

Signing up for the the Long Run for Haiti is free! But we do encourage everyone to raise as much as they can for J/P HRO so we can continue to support stronger communities in Haiti.

Where is the Long Run for Haiti?

You can choose to complete your virtual marathon activity wherever you like. Whether it’s in the park, in the gym, or on the sidewalks with your friends by your side. You decide the pace and you decide the place. 

What is the date of the event?

You can begin your challenge whenever you're ready! You'll then have until the end of the year to complete your virtual marathon.

What is everydayhero and how do I use it?

Everydayhero is an online fundraising platform which you can use to collect your donations. Your fundraising page will be set up automatically when you sign up for the Long Run for Haiti. You will be provided access to your page once you have signed up. You can share your page with friends and family to encourage them to donate to you.

What is MapMyFitness and how do I use it?

MapMyFitness is a training app which tracks and records your distance. Everydayhero is partnered with MapMyFitness which means you can link your fundraising page to MapMyFitness and your page will then be updated every time you complete a run. That way your supporters can see how you’re progressing toward your goal. Fundraisers who use this feature raise an average 46% more!

What is Strava and how do I use it?

Strava is a training app which tracks and records your distance. Everydayhero is partnered with Strava which means you can link your fundraising page to Strava and your page will then be updated every time you complete a run. That way your supporters can see how you’re progressing toward your goal. Fundraisers who use this feature raise an average 46% more!

What happens if I only use the fitness app to track some of my miles and forget to use it for some?

Any of the miles you complete using your fitness app we will know about (if it is linked to your fundraising page). You just need to let us know about the rest of them by manually updating your fundraising page. Just remember– don’t manually log any miles that you’ve used a fitness app to track– we will already have those logged.

Are there incentives or prizes for raising money?

Yes! Royal Caribbean International is pleased to support the Long Run for Haiti and will offer a 7-night Caribbean cruise for two to Haiti for the person who raises the most money to support this effort.*
